The majority of the Welsh public support the devolution of tax and borrowing powers to the National Assembly for Wales, according to an ICM survey undertaken on behalf of the Commission on Devolution in Wales (‘The Silk Commission‘).
The findings are contained in an influential report published on Monday 19th November 2012 by the independent commission, which was established in October 2011 to review the present financial and constitutional arrangements in Wales. In its report The Commission on Devolution in Wales suggests that the Welsh Government should have the power to vary income tax by 2020.
ICM interviewed a representative sample of 2,000 Welsh adults by telephone between the 11th and 25th May 2012.
