With January a time of reflection, we asked consumers about their spending plans for the year ahead. Speculating about how much they’ll spend this year, over half of consumers are looking to spend less than they did in 2012. This is driven women, 45-54 year olds and C2DEs. Thinking specifically about big ticket items such as white goods, furniture etc., almost half of consumers claim they will spend less money than last year or none at all on big ticket items.
Further to these cut backs, nearly three quarters of consumers believe discounts and money-off vouchers will have at least some influence on their purchase decisions in 2013. To find out more on how and where consumers plan to cut back, please click here.
