Nearly a million rent out sparerooms

An ICM survey conducted among 2029 GB adults revealed that nearly a million (950 000) homeowners rent out spare rooms in their houses.

36% of room renters are doing it on income boosting purpose whereas 3 in 10 (28%) need extra income to cover their bills.

The typical lodger is 29 years old and renting a room with £400 a month.
