New research from ICM for Third City shows that one per cent of the British population tried to buy a house between September and December 2011 and were unsuccessful. Difficulties securing mortgage finance and poor legal advice were amongst the reasons cited for the failure of the sale to go through.
The research was carried out between 20th December 2011 and 6th January 2012 to a sample of 4,067 people.
