A new ICM poll for Age UK has revealed that over half of people over 60 are finding more difficult to live on their incomes than a year ago. One in ten (nine per cent) of people over 60 surveyed agreed that they were finding it quite difficult or even struggling to manage on their income, with a third (33 per cent) only able to afford ‘the basics’.
The study also shows that this group are cutting back on fuel and energy for heating, with 14 per cent of over 60 saying they have gone to bed early in order to keep warm, and 13 per cent living in one room to save money on heating.
ICM interviewed 1003 people between 13th – 15th January 2012.
