3rd runway more popular than new airport

ICM Research recently carried out a survey for the institute of Mechanical Engineers.

Results from the poll show that marginally more people would back an additional runway at Heathrow over a new airport in the Thames Estuary (25% v 21%). Yet the majority of people would prefer that neither were added (47%). Opinions are split over the government’s decision to block a third run way at Heathrow. 35% agreed with 32% disagree. Despite this the reputation of the UK aviation policy is still strong with 53% saying that it is creditable.
